Lena Headey出生于英格兰约克郡，Lena原来计划做一名理发师，但少年时，她涉足了戏剧。在国家剧院的一次演出时，一位星探发现她，她很快参与了电影Waterland(1992)，此片担任主角的是Jeremy Irons。她扮演玛丽，一个promiscuous的十几岁少年,据说成功的表演导致了她的另一promiscuous女仆的角色。那是Merchant Ivory出品的电影The Remains of the Day (1993)。主角是hristopher Reeve 和 Anthony Hopkins。
